My favorite juice also happens to be one of the healthiest juices you can drink: cranberry juice. You may have heard wonderful things about cranberry juice. However, the truth of the matter is that cranberry juice is deliciously healthy for you. It is high in antioxidants, which are fabulous at fighting off infections. Therefore, the thinking behind that is that you, hopefully, shouldn't be getting sick as often as other people who don't really eat or drink healthy. Additionally, cranberry juice is a killer...of infections that is.

Many people who are prone to getting (or who have been diagnosed with) urinary tract infections are often advised right off the bat to drink cranberry juice because in the past, cranberry juice has been shown to be extremely effective in combating infections. How to Make Carrot Juice With a Blender

Clear Your Acne - Naturally!

Most people who suffer from acne go out and spend good money on common over-the-counter acne treatment products. The truth is, most of these products are full of chemicals that can actually slow down the healing of acne, and irritate your skin, causing farther breakouts.

When an acne product has 20 ingredients listed on it, it can be hard to know if one of those ingredients is actually stopping you from having success. It can be even harder when you can't pronounce the ingredient, much less know what it is and how it is going to affect your skin.

Most mainstream acne treatments are not only much more expensive than common household items, but they also don't always work as well either. With that in mind, I will list some basic household items that can work wonders on clearing up your skin.

Clear Your Acne - Naturally!

Baking soda - A very cheap cooking ingredient that most people have in their homes already, baking soda can be used as a great scrub. The purpose of a scrub is to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin that can eventually clog pores and lead to acne spots.
To start off, you'll want to mix a small amount of baking soda with some water for form a paste. Baking soda is very effective as a scrub, so you want to be sure to be extra careful when applying it to your face. Gently massage the paste into your skin for ten to fifteen seconds. Then rinse the baking soda off, and pat your face dry with a clean towel.

Apple Cider Vinegar - Though most people that use vinegar to treat acne use the apple cider form of vinegar, you can also use plain old regular vinegar. Regardless of which type you use, vinegar can be very helpful with it comes to clearing up acne. It can kill off acne causing bacteria, balance your skin's pH, and absorb extra oil on your skin.

Starting with clean, dry skin, apply diluted vinegar (eight parts water to one part vinegar) directly to your skin with a cotton ball, and leave it on. If you want, you can also use a stronger vinegar solution (say, 2 or 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar), and apply it directly to problem areas, rinsing it off after ten minutes.

Lemon or lime juice can also be substituted for vinegar. Both of these juices are rich in citric acid, and can exfoliate your skin very well, halting the growth of acne spots, as well as fading previous, non-active acne quicker.

Egg Whites - Rich in protein, egg whites can be used as a mask to heal and rebuild your skin. It can also help to absorb excess oil from your skin.

To start off, crack an egg, removing the yolk so that just the egg whites are left behind. Beat these egg whites, and apply them directly to your face. Let it sit for fifteen minutes, and then rinse the egg off.

Oatmeal - As odd as it may seem, oatmeal can absorb unwanted oil and draw out impurities which reside deep in your skin. Cook some plain oatmeal like you would for consumption. Let it cool off, and rub it over your clean skin. Let it sit for a while, like you would a mask, and then rinse off. If you do this on a regular basis, you should begin to start noticing results soon. It may feel funny, but it works!

Tea Tree Oil - TTO is a commonly used all-natural household antiseptic, which you can pick up at most drugstores or supermarkets. You can apply TTO directly to acne spots to kill bacteria, or, if you strongly dilute it with another oil (such as jojoba oil), over your entire face.
Tea tree gel can be easier to apply than the oil, and many are made for applying over large areas of skin, so they aren't quite as strong as straight TTO and do not need to be diluted.

Pantothenic Acid (Also known as Vit. B5) - Pantothenic acid can be taken in large quantities for the benefit of acne reduction. B5 works by helping your body to metabolize fats which would otherwise be later turned into sebum (oil) and excreted through the skin. Small amounts of B5 won't help though, and it has to be taken several times a day.

To help with acne, you will need to take 2.5 grams of pantothenic acid (the powder form is much easier to take), 4 times per day, for a total of 10 grams per day. Powdered B5 can be purchased from vitamin stores.

Aloe Vera - Aloe Vera has been used for many years in kitchens for topical application to burns. Another benefit of aloe is that it can prevent scaring, fade marks and help heal acne spots.

You now have an idea of some basic household items you can use on your skin, that work better than many OTC acne products, and are much cheaper to use. Since we have only really covered basic acne treatments, you can always take this to another level and take all natural, internal acne treatments.

This sums up our basic list of natural alternatives for chemical based acne treatment products. You can take this a step farther by attacking your acne from the inside out. Acne has been shown numerous times to be very closely affected by the digestive system, so keeping your entire digestive system working as smooth as possible can help reduce acne. Wheatgrass Juice Recipe - How to Make Wheatgrass Taste Good!

Everybody knows that wheatgrass juice has amazing health benefits, but its taste leaves a lot to be desired. In this article I will make a tasty wheatgrass juice recipe that makes drinking wheatgrass a treat!

I have a confession to make, even though I've been a self described health nut for many years, I can't stand the taste! I always make a funny face after drinking it and feel slightly nauseated. However, I still drink it because its a great source of chlorophyll and essential nutrients. Chlorophyll helps purify the liver, neutralize toxins in the body, and it builds the blood's oxygen carrying potential. It also contains beta-carotene, B-complex, C, E, and vitamin K. Wheatgrass is great for people who are wanting to detox and cleanse their bodies or lose weight. Unfortunately all these health benefits will go to waste if you aren't able to stand the taste!

To make the wheatgrass palatable it is recommened that you try diluting it with different types of fresh fruit and vegetable juice. Some of the best juices to mix with the wheatgrass with juice are: apple, orange, and cucumber or a combination of the three. You can also dilute the juice with Kombucha or a blend of apple juice and a fermented beverage called Rejuvelac. When you mix wheatgrass with other juices, a good rule of thumb is to not mix more than 1 ounce with 16 ounces of another type of juice.

3 fistfuls of wheatgrass or desired amount

Juice all ingredients through the Omega Vert Juicer or another single auger style juicer. Enjoy!

It's best to drink juice on an empty stomach.

Is Carrot Juice Good for You?

Carrot juice is remarkably good for you, nut you shouldn't drink too much of it because your body cannot deal with too much beta-carotene all in one go. It is recommended that you drink between eight and ten fluid ounces of carrot juice at one time, although if you are addicted to it, then you should wait for an hour before you have more, and stick to only eight ounces or less. Beta-carotene has some amazing properties and can protect your skin from sun damage, but overdosing on carrot juice can cause severe liver damage - it is one of those occasions when you really can have too much of a good thing!

I first had fresh carrot juice many years ago while I was walking through the streets of Izmir in Turkey. It was hot and I needed something to cool me down. There was a stall on the street selling juices, and the one that appealed to me, because I hadn't tried it, was carrot juice. It was suggested that I mixed it with apple juice, but I had it straight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since then I have been drinking it mixed with apple and celery but you can mix it with most things.

Carrot juice can be made into smoothies with some peaches, natural yoghurt, cinnamon or nutmeg and ground almonds or walnuts. This is delicious and packed full of vitamins and minerals. It goes well with vodka, an orange flavour liqueur and lemon soda too if you want to try a healthy cocktail with some bite.

Is Carrot Juice Good for You?

If you juice your own carrots, you should ad a splash of lemon juice as it can turn a sludgy brown due to oxidization. If you want to mix it with other juices, it goes well with orange, pineapple, tomato and beetroot juice as well as with apricot nectar.

Carrot juice contains a substance called falcarinol which seems to have the ability to slow the growth of cancer cells and perhaps can kill them. It also contains the beta-carotene which the body converts to vitamin A which is good for the eyesight, helping to slow the process of age-related macular degeneration, and as vitamin E is also present, carrots really do help to improve night vision, so your grandmother was right; carrots and their juice really can help you see in the dark. Vitamin E also improves the muscles and helps the body use oxygen more effectively, so carrot juice is good for those who exercise regularly as it improves stamina.

Carrot juice also contains fibre, which means that it helps keep the body free of waste products and protects the colon. The magnesium in this vegetable is good for mental health and improves the body's ability to digest fats and helps the metabolism of mineral salts such as calcium, phosphorous, sodium and potassium, which carrots also contain. Actually the calcium is in the form of calcium pectate, a pectin fibre which helps to lower blood cholesterol levels and blood pressure.

Interestingly, when you eat a raw carrot, only one per cent of the beta-carotene it contains is absorbed by the body, but drinking the juice means that your body can absorb 100 % of it.

Carrots also contain vitamin C and some of the B-complex vitamins as well as those mentioned above. The green tops contain vitamin K and if these are juiced with the carrots then you get an extra boost for your immune system. Carrot juice also contains sulphur which is a major ingredient of insulin which converts carbohydrates into energy.

Daily intake of carrot juice can help improve the complexion, improve eye health, improve the appearance of your hair and nails, regulate blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol, help combat anaemia, fight infection by boosting the immune system and help reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. It may also be valuable for the adrenal glands, but not enough research has been done on this to state that it can definitely achieve this.

In other words, carrot juice is good for you, but take it in moderation.

The Different Types of Juice

Have you ever wondered how many different kinds of juices there are in the world today? I'm guessing you could research this for hours and hours and find and endless amount of different types of juices. You would probably be amazed at some of the different types of juices made from fruits and vegetables that you've never even heard of.

One of my favorite types of juices is orange juice which is known to be a very good source of vitamin C which we all know helps your body fight common bodily infections like the common cold. I don't know what it is, but orange juice just has that taste that I can't seem to get enough of.

Next on the list of my favorites is cranberry juice which is also loaded with vitamins and is great for helping cleans the body. Cranberry juice is known to contain phytochemicals which can help prevent cancer and cardiovascular disease. Cranberry juice may also help prevent and relieve symptoms caused by urinary tract infections by reducing E. coli bacteria found in the urinary tract. Cranberry juice can also be used to help bloating during a menstrual cycle as well as help prevent kidney stones.

Apple juice is the other juice that I wanted to discuss because it is also on the top of my list when it comes to juice. Apple juice also contains vitamin C and other vitamins which may promote healthy bones. This juice also contains polyphenols which may help to protect against diseases associated with aging.
